Johnny Depp’s New Movie Jeanne Du Barry Will Be On Sale At The Cannes Market

It will be Johnny Depp's first feature film in more than three years when Jeanne Du Barry is released for pre-sales at Cannes this month.
As previously reported by ScreenDaily, Depp and Mawenn will star together in a French period drama about Jeanne Bécu, the mistress of King Louis XV, who ascended through the ranks of the court to become his mistress. Depp will play Louis XV, popularly known as "Louis The Beloved" in the film, which he will direct alongside actress and filmmaker Mawenn.
The cast will also include Louis Garrel, Pierre Richard, and Noemie Lvovsky. The exact start date is still a mystery.
Depp’s last role in a film was in Minamata, which was in early 2019. He has blamed the cancel culture for keeping him from acting since then.
A libel complaint against The Sun, which referred to him as a "wife beater", when reporting on his divorce from Amber Heard, was dismissed in 2020. After the ruling, he was ousted in the Fantastic Beasts franchise by Warner Bros. Puffins Impossible has been his only film and television role since then.
