Dharma Productions and Amazon Deal Promises 3 New Films For 2022
Over 40 new titles, in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, across original series, original movies, and co-productions, will be launched by Amazon Prime Video in the next 24 months during its first Prime Video Presents India showcase event in Mumbai on Thursday. Prime Video has announced new multi-year licensing and co-production agreements with some of India's biggest and most successful studios to provide the finest and latest movies to viewers across languages. This announcement comes on the heels of Prime Video's announcement that it will begin producing original movies in India, which will be released directly on the site.
Over the next five years, Amazon plans to more than triple its investment in Prime Video India, marking the end of the first half of the service's existence in India. According to Karan Johar, the next three Dharma Productions films would be exclusively streamed on the platform, and he also unveiled four new original series.
The success of Shershaah on Amazon Prime Video prompted Karan Johar to announce that Dharma Productions has signed three exclusive streaming deals with the platform for its upcoming slate: Jug Jugg Jeeyo (Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, and Neetu Kapoor), Govinda Naam Mera (Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar and Kiara Advani), and Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani.
This revelation was confirmed by Karan on Instagram. "It’s going to be an entertainment packed year with @dharmamovies & @dharmaticent - in collaboration with @primevideoin. Meanwhile, Karan Johar is working on Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, which is planned to be released in February 2023.
