Heartfelt Tributes Start Pouring In After KK's Untimely Demise

It was on Wednesday that filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj expressed his sadness over K.K.'s demise and recalled how he and KK first met through Gulzar's "Maachis" song.

Krishnakumar Kunnath, also known as KK, fell unexpectedly on Tuesday night at the age of 53, only hours after giving a performance at Kolkata's Nazrul Mancha auditorium.

As suspected by medical professionals at the hospital, cardiac arrest is believed to be the death's underlying cause

 

Chhod Aaye Hum Woh Galiyaan, created by Bhardwaj for the 1996 film featuring Hariharan, Suresh Wadkar, and Vinod Sehgal as co-singers, is one of KK's most memorable songs.

Tabu and Chandrachur Singh starred in the film Maachis, which dealt with insurgent activity in Punjab. As Singh and his pals reminisce about their childhood, the song Chhodh Aaye Hum Wo Galiyan' is featured.

KK and Bhardwaj then collaborated on the song O' Mama for Bhardwaj's 2011 film 7 Khoon Maaf. Gulzar wrote the lyrics while Bhardwaj composed the music.

Nazrul Mancha Auditorium hosted a college festival on Tuesday night, where the Pyaar Ke Pal singer performed. He apparently slumped on the steps after the concert because of chest trouble.

The 53-year-old musician was rushed to CMRI hospital due to his declining health, where he was pronounced dead.

Singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, well known by his stage as KK, died on May 31st after singing at a college carnival in South Kolkata. Later, after he took ill, the 53-year-old singer was transported to CMRI hospital in Kolkata, where doctors proclaimed him dead shortly thereafter. Everyone in the entertainment and music industries, as well as KK's friends and family, were taken aback by his untimely death.

Actors and actresses such as Akshay Kumar, Yami Gautam and Shahid Kapoor as well as actors and musicians such as Emraan Hashmi and Ranveer Singh, as well as singers and composers like AR Rahman, Shaan and Ankit Tiwari and producer Shekhar Ravjiani have all shared their condolences with the world via social media. Aamir Khan has also expressed his sorrow over the death of KK and Punjabi artist Sidhu Moose Wala, who were shot dead on May 29, 2022, in Jawaharke village in Punjab's Mansa district. In a recent interview with ANI, Akshay Kumar expressed his shock over the tragic death of KK.

Akshay reminisced about KK's influence on his career and admitted that he was upset by the singer's death.  “He was a part of my lots of songs. He had sung the song for Airlift – Tu Bhula Jise – which was a climax song. It was because of that song, the climax was sounding so good. It was a very shocking thing what happened last night. I had just returned and I heard that. It's very sad that we are losing a lot of our singers & it happened at a very young age,” Akshay was quoted as saying.

PM Narendra Modi also sent an emotional tweet to mourn the loss of KK. “Saddened by the untimely demise of noted singer Krishnakumar Kunnath popularly known as KK. His songs reflected a wide range of emotions as struck a chord with people of all age groups. We will always remember him through his songs. Condolences to his family and fans. Om Shanti”.
