Major Premiere: Heartfelt Gesture From Sandeep Unnikrishnan's Mother
Major has received a lot of positive feedback from the public. It is based on the life of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, who gave his life in the Taj Palace Hotel attack on Mumbai on November 26th, 2008. Producer Mahesh Babu and director Sashi Kiran Tikka teamed together for this project. Adivi Sesh, a well-known South Indian actor, plays Major Sandeep in the movie Major. He's just one of a number of major actors in the film, including Saiee Manjrekar, Sobhita Dhulipala and Prakash Raj.
More than 24 crores have been reported to have been collected internationally by Adivi Sesh's Major. First of all, it is the first film in Adivi's career that has grossed more than $1 million in the United States.
Major had a pre-release screening in Bangalore before it was released. The celebration drew some of the biggest names in Indian cinema, as well as the parents of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, who were also invited. Dhanalakshmi Unnikrishnan, Sandeep Unnikrishnan's mother, wore the same sari that she wore 23 years ago at her son's pipping ceremony, according to the film's lead actor, Adivi Sesh. In addition, the mother wore the watch her son had given her as a present. Adivi Sesh recalled the emotional experience, saying,"Two days before the release, we did the premiere in Bangalore. Amma (the late Sandeep Unnikrishnan's mother) called me and said 23 years ago I wore this saree for Major Sandeep's graduation; today I'm wearing this saree for you. She showed me the watch he gave her and she came to watch the film."
Adivi Sesh went on to reveal that Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan's mother, Dhanalakshmi Unnikrishnan, was so moved by the film that it made him both proud and emotional. When he first met her at the event, the actor said it was a “surreal emotion” and that he held her for several minutes. K. Unnikrishnan and the rest of the cast and crew applauded him for his role in the film, he said in more detail. "I kid you not, the moment I saw her I hugged her for 4 minutes and I held their hands while watching the film. It was a surreal feeling, parents watching a film inspired by their son who is no longer there – After the film they gave me a kiss, I held their hands and sat on the floor and in that moment I knew we won," he described.
Two images were posted to Adivi Sesh's Instagram account on June 3rd, 2022. It was at the film's showing that he first met Dhanalakshmi Unnikrishnan, Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan's maternal grandmother. Sandeep Unnikrishnan's father, K. Unnikrishnan, and mother, who were sitting on a bench, could be seen giving him feedback in the second photo. Adivi Sesh and Sandeep Unnikrishnan's parents have a close relationship, and the images of them together are still doing the rounds on social media today.
