Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor has revealed that his uncle Randhir Kapoor is suffering from dementia. While discussing Randhir's reaction to his father's postmortem release, the actor, who has stepped in to promote late Rishi Kapoor's last film Sharmaji Namkeen, verified the prognosis.

In a recent interview, Ranbir mentioned that after watching Sharmaji Namkeen, Randhir inquired about Rishi Kapoor.  "My uncle Randhir Kapoor, who is going through an early stage of dementia, came to me after the film, and said, ‘Tell dad that he is amazing, and where is he, let’s call him," he told  NDTV.

"And a good piece of storytelling really embodies that," the actor remarked, adding that art transcends medical issues.

Randhir Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan's and Karisma Kapoor's father , is 75 years old. The film veteran has been  frequently photographed in Mumbai, and photos of him with his daughters, wife Babita, and grandchildren Jeh, Taimur, Samaira, and Kiaan frequently appear on social media. Kareena and Karisma have yet to respond to Ranbir's big announcement.

The late Rishi Kapoor plays the lead role in Sharmaji Namkeen, which has been released on Amazon Prime Video. The actor passed away midway through the  shooting of  the movie. As a result, Paresh Rawal  stepped in to finish the project. Several movie stars have banded together to promote the film and pay honour to the late actor.

Ranbir had previously discussed how he planned to shoot Sharmaji Namkeen with prosthetics in an earlier video aired as part of the film's advertising.

"The show must go on," he had remarked. "You've all heard it, but I've seen my father live it."

“After his demise, we thought the film wouldn’t get completed. We thought of trying VFX or I could wear prosthetics and complete the role but nothing was working out. It was a tough time for all of us. And that’s when Mr. Paresh Rawal stepped in. It was very generous of him to take up this challenge,” the actor explained in the video.

In addition to Rishi Kapoor and Paresh Rawal, Juhi Chawla, Suhail Nayyar, and Satish Kaushik star in the film, which is directed by Hitesh Bhatia.
