Sonali Bendre OTT Debut With Drama The Broken News

The Broken News, a new original drama series from ZEE5, will feature Sonali Bendre in the lead role. Adapted from the famous 2018 British series Press, the show will also feature Jaideep Ahlawat (Paatal Lok) and Shriya Pilgaonkar, who recently appeared in the Prime Video show Guilty Minds (2022).
Vinay Waikul, who recently directed Netflix's Aranyak, will helm this project.. The show chronicles the story of two rival Mumbai-based news networks, Awaaz Bharati, an independent, ethical news channel, and Josh 24/7 News, which offers sensationalist and invasive journalism, as well as "what transpires between the main characters in their quest for news" according to the creators.
Known for hits like Diljale (1996) , Sarfarosh (1999), and Major Saab (1998), Bendre was most recently featured in Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobaara! (2013), in which she made a cameo appearance.. Indian Idol and India's Got Talent are only two of the reality TV shows in which she has been seen as a judge. The actor made her small screen debut in 2014 with Ajeeb Daastaan Hai Ye. (2014).
ZEE5 and BBC Studios India have partnered to produce the series. An official press release from ZEE5 stated "With this initiative, ZEE5 aims to further bolster its existing premium content offerings with captivating and diverse stories based on successful British formats". ZEE5 India's Chief Business Officer, Manish Kalra, said that with The Broken News the team is kicking off a cooperation with the well-known production studio to deliver "interesting and unique story narratives for our audiences".
"This partnership is in line with ZEE5's strategy to build a portfolio of unique and compelling content for an enhanced value from the services. We are sure our audiences will enjoy and love it as much as they have loved our content so far. ZEE5 has been working with the best talent in the creative ecosystem to create a riveting slate of originals, in line with our content strategy of keeping the viewers at the centre of the business," In a statement, Kalra stated.
The Broken News was regarded as a "relevant story" by Nimisha Pandey, ZEE5's Chief Content Officer, Hindi Originals. "It is a riveting drama depicting the nuances of the media houses and the daily hustle-bustle of a newsroom. The story revolves around the ideological differences of the protagonists, beautifully played by Shriya Pilgaonkar and Jaideep Ahlawat. The story has a strong, contemporary and compelling narrative making it a perfect addition to our content bouquet” Pandey made the statement.
BBC Studios India's General Manager, Sameer Gogate, expressed his team's excitement about the partnership with ZEE5. "Our forms have a unique capacity to span cultural and language barriers.
