Rani Mukerji Opens Up about Her Relationship with Preity Zinta

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Rani Mukerji, Preity Zinta, Karisma Kapoor, and others reigned in Bollywood in the 1990s. However, it has long been argued that modern-day heroines cannot be pals. While this may be true, a number of notable actresses have shown this to be incorrect and demonstrated their long-term friendships.

 

Karan Johar's 50th birthday event recently had a star-studded guest list, including some of Bollywood's biggest names. But one picture that has gone viral had Rani Mukerji, Preity Zinta, Kareena Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Madhuri Dixit in one frame.

 

It all started with the Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003) scandal, in which Karan contacted Kareena for the lead role, but she turned him down. Preity went on to do an amazing job in the film. Rani, on the other hand, was disappointed that she had not been contacted about the job.

 

On Karan Johar's Koffee With Karan, Rani Mukerji denied having a friendship with Preity Zinta, thus seeing the two of them together brought up memories of that period. When inquired about Rani's friendship with Preity Zinta, this is what she had to say:

 

"It was never a friendship, Karan, to be very honest. We shared a great working relationship. Me and Preity, we gel very well when we work together, especially when we did Chori Chori Chupke Chupke (2001) and Har Dil Jo Pyaar Karega (2000). That was the time when we both were starting off. Preity and I were always put together, I don't know for what. We did that Piya Piya together.”

Later, Rani had remarked that people had always thought of them as best friends and twins. Despite their denials, their admirers have always believed they were close friends. Her own words:

 

"I think maybe because me and Preity, we look the same, we both have the same kind of body language and so we look great together onscreen. When journalists came on the sets, what they saw was that Preity and me were very comfortable on the sets with each other when we were working and I guess that was blown out of proportion in magazines and we were called Siamese twins. We tried to clear out to people that we are not really the best of friends and we don't go out together but no one was buying that. But that is the fact."

Afterwards, Karan showed them an excerpt of a video in which Preity discusses her relationships with Rani and Kareena in detail. She thanked Kareena for not doing Kal Ho Naa Ho and accused her of not publicly appreciating her for her decision to stay away from the show. Rani Mukerji's words echoed exactly what Preity said when she first spoke up about her. Rani's response after hearing it was, "I think Preity talks too much, she should talk less. That's the only thing I want to tell her through your show. I think she has an opinion about everything. I think she should cut that out."

In the films Chori Chori Chupke Chupke and Har Dil Jo Pyaar Karega, Rani and Preity have worked together. When we saw them at the celebration together after all these years, it was as if nothing had changed!
