Quentin Tarantino's New Book Cinema Speculation

Quentin Tarantino has yet to disclose any intentions for his final film, but moviegoers may expect some new work from the Pulp Fiction filmmaker this fall. HarperCollins has announced that Tarantino's latest book on film history, Cinema Speculation, will be released on October 25.
“In addition to being one of the most recognized modern filmmakers, Quentin Tarantino is possibly the most gleefully contagious movie lover alive," according to HarperCollins' official blurb for the book.

“For years, he has talked about publishing books about movies in interviews. Cinema Speculation is the culmination of years of hard work by his devoted admirers, as well as all moviegoers. An intellectually hard and perceptive read that is both rollicking and fun, this book is organized around some of the most important American films of the 1970s, all of which the author first saw as a young moviegoer.
One can clearly recognize QT's singular voice in the book's film criticism and theory as well as its reporting and beautiful personal history. It is one of the rare perspectives on cinema that can only come from one of the best practitioners of the art form ever."
Tarantino has long expressed a desire to pen a book. For him, publishing books will be a means to keep his creative juices flowing even once his days in front of the camera are done (he's presently at nine feature films). The novelization of his film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood received an enthusiastic B+ rating from IndieWire.

Prior to this, Tarantino had hinted that he was working on a novel about a World War II soldier, who goes home and seeks solace in international movies because he no longer responds to Hollywood. When asked about his next work, Tarantino remarked, "I've got this character who had been in World War II and he witnessed a great deal of bloodshed there. His return to his old neighborhood has left him no longer receptive to movies. After all, he's been through, he thinks of them as childish. Hollywood movies, to him, are just movies. It was only after that, that he began hearing about international films by Kurosawa and Fellini."
That book was really "Once Upon A Time In Hollywood," where Brad Pitt's character Cliff Booth, a returning veteran who finds a new home at the arthouse, is revealed to be a fictional character in the book. Pitt received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in the film.
