John Woo Reimagining The Killer For Peacock

The Killer will be helmed by John Woo.
Woo has stated that he will direct a reworking of his 1989 blockbuster picture for Peacock, in cooperation with Universal Pictures, after more than a decade of conversations around its English-language translation. In the film The Killer, an experienced assassin takes on one final job and mistakenly blinds a nightclub singer in the process. The hired killer agrees to assassinate a high-ranking triad boss just as the authorities are chasing him down in order to pay for an operation to cure her eyes. Danny Lee, Sally Yeh, and Chow Yun-fat feature in the original film.
Lupita Nyong'o, an Oscar-winning actress, was supposed to play the assassin in a gender-swapped remake of the Peacock Original in 2018.
Actor John Woo returns to reinvent and direct his classic for the streaming service, which has seen "exceptional growth" in its first quarter of 2022, beating out Netflix, according to Peacock's statement.
