Squid Game Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk is planning to make a satire based on the massive success of Squid Game titled The Best Show On The Planet. Although still in the early stages of development, the new show will draw from the global success of Squid Game.

Netflix's Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk is currently working on a comedy named The Best Show on the Planet on how Netflix's Squid Game became a worldwide hit in a matter of hours.

The Korean auteur shared the news exclusively during an interview for Deadline’s Disruptors Magazine.

Hwang claimed the satirical comedy would be based on his own personal experience of being thrown into the limelight, and that the project is still in its infancy with little specifics available to disclose.

One of Netflix's most popular shows in 2021, Squid Game captivated audiences around the world, racking up more than 100 million viewers and topping the charts in 94 countries.

Hwang is concentrating on producing three series at the moment: The Best Show on the Planet, a movie inspired by a novel by famed Italian writer Umberto Eco and the second season of Squid Game.

Preparing for it, even though it hasn't actually been approved by Kickstarter's board of trustees yet, Hwang is spending a great deal of his mental energy on it. He's aiming for a Halloween 2024 release, and he recently confirmed to Deadline that fan favorite Gi-hun and the enigmatic Front Man, played by Lee Byung-hun, will make a triumphant return.

“Season 1’s success has given me an immense amount of pressure and I am having nightmares about the reception for Season 2 not being so good,” he told Deadline.
