Kaley Cuoco On Losing a Role In Knives Out 2

In an interview with Glamour, the Flight Attendant actor Kaley Cuoco said that she was "devastated" after finding that she had been passed over for a role in Rian Johnson's upcoming ensemble mystery Knives Out 2, which went to Kate Hudson.
“I was convinced [the part was mine]. Kate Hudson ended up getting it. But I was so convinced that my bags were packed for Greece,” she shared. “And then I didn’t get it. I was so devastated. And I’m not [normally] devastated over roles. I had done chemistry reads, I had done Zooms. And I didn’t get it. I cried and I cried all night long. And it went to Kate, who’s great.”
The following day, Cuoco received a call regarding a script for the film Meet Cute, which already had Pete Davidson attached to star. "They were like, 'We have an interesting script,' 'I don't want to read anything,' I said. I stink. 'No one is interested in me.' They said, 'You have to read this’," she explained.
Despite initially being dismayed, Cuoco recalls commenting after reading the script, "This is the most magical little script" and one she "wouldn't have gotten" if she had landed the Knives Out role. “It just shows you that you’re where you’re supposed to be. I mean, I was gutted over that. And that’s when I thought I was on fire, like, I’m for sure getting that. And they were like, ‘No, we’re going to go with Kate.’ “
Looking back on her audition for the job, Cuoco revealed that she was never told why she didn't get it, but she did say beforehand, “I was thinking I was hot shit: I’m going to be with Daniel Craig. This is amazing.”
Cuoco, on the other hand, stated that she “couldn’t be happier with how things turned out. That’s what it was supposed to be, and Knives is going to be great and Kate’s great. She was supposed to do it and I was supposed to do this. And maybe I’ll get to audition for the third one.”
Daniel Craig reprises his role as investigator Benoit Blanc in the sequel, which was shot in Greece, alongside a new cast that includes Hudson, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Dave Bautista, and Janelle Monae.
On April 21, the second season of Cuoco's series The Flight Attendant premieres on HBO Max.
