Pixar's new film ‘Elemental’

What if toys had feelings? It has been a common theme in Pixar's animated films since the 1990s- as in Toy Story, (1995). Isn't it possible that cars could feel? (Cars(2006)). Then there's the possibility that feelings could have feelings of their own ((Inside Out (2015)" Now, it’s time to consider the possibility that certain elements might be capable of feeling emotions:

A new Pixar film, titled Elemental, will be released on June 16, 2023, according to the studio's announcement on Monday. The film follows two endearing beings made of fire and water who, despite their core elemental differences, discover they have a lot in common.

The logline reads “The film journeys alongside an unlikely pair, Ember and Wade, in a city where fire-, water-, land- and air-residents live together. The fiery young woman and the go-with-the-flow guy are about to discover something elemental: how much they actually have in common.”

The Good Dinosaur (2015) "and Partly Cloudy" (2009) director Peter Sohn will take the reins for this upcoming feature. The Good Dinosaur (2015) and Cars 2 (2011) producer Denise Ream is also behind the project.

Sohn's upbringing in New York City serves as an additional source of inspiration for the film. “My parents emigrated from Korea in the early 1970s and built a bustling grocery store in the Bronx, We were among many families who ventured to a new land with hopes and dreams — all of us mixing into one big salad bowl of cultures, languages, and beautiful little neighborhoods. That’s what led me to ‘Elemental.'”

“Our story is based on the classic elements — fire, water, land, and air,” he said. “Some elements mix with each other, and some don’t. What if these elements were alive?”

As a spin-off to "Toy Story 3 (2010)," Pixar will release Lightyear (slated to be released on June 17) starring Chris Evans as the real-life astronaut who was the inspiration for r Buzz Lightyear.
