Thomas Haden Church to star in Twisted Metal

Twisted Metal, Peacock's humorous half-hour live-action adaptation of the iconic computer game, will star Oscar contender Thomas Haden Church, Anthony Mackie, and Stephanie Beatriz.
Twisted Metal is a high-octane action comedy based on an original idea by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Deadpool, Zombieland) about a motor-mouthed outsider who is promised a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a strange gift across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. In addition to a demented clown driving an ice cream truck, he will fight ruthless marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other hazards on the open road, with the help of a trigger-happy car thief.
Christian Church will portray Agent Stone, a ruthless highway patrolman in the post-apocalyptic world who punishes even the tiniest of offenses with the heaviest of penalties. Agent Stone will do whatever it takes to restore order to the Divided States of America, and he will kill everyone who stands in his way and dares to challenge his authority.
Actor Mackie portrays John Doe, the smart-mouthed and fast-talking milkman who delivers much-needed supplies from one post-apocalyptic community to the next, while battling vicious vehicles of destruction in his path. Because he has no recollection of his family or his background, John's main purpose is to survive until he is given the opportunity to fulfill a lifelong dream of joining a community.
A manhole or a volcano could do little to stop Beatriz's Quiet, a vicious, badass vehicle burglar who operates entirely on instinct. For Quiet, who has spent her entire life being silenced by the people around her, it is an aspiration to find her place in this strange, disorienting world. Quiet, on the other hand, strikes an unexpected friendship with John Doe when her desire for vengeance gets the better of her.
Michael Jonathan Smith, the author of Cobra Kai and the showrunner of Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions, and Universal Television's Twisted Metal, will pen the script and executive produce the series. Through their Electric Avenue production firm, Will Arnett and Marc Forman, who secured the rights and worked to put this adaptation together, are also executive producers. Mackie is also the executive producer of the project. Several episodes will be executive produced and directed by Kitao Sakurai (The Eric Andre Show, Bad Trip).
